SHOOTING PD


STV Studios is looking for an experienced Glasgow based Shooting PD to join one of their flagship series, filming in multiple locations across the UK.

 

Start Date: 23rd February 2026

Duration: Approximately 4 months

Filming: Across the UK

Based: Glasgow / central Scotland


We would like to hear from shooting PDs with a strong understanding of story, visual flare and experience of managing teams on location as well as working closely with on screen talent.


The successful candidate will have responsibility for


·     Adhering to all the format points of well -loved antiques series as well as following a shooting style guide.

·     Filming on FX9 camera and monitoring sound ensuring full coverage of each sequence. Candidates should also have experience in using prime lenses.

·     Following the editorial of each episode including covering the history of interesting items and flagging any copyright or contentious issues.

·     Keeping up to date with shoot paperwork after each shoot, which will feed directly to the edit.

·     Ensuring on screen talent is happy and motivated, helping to bring the fun and personality to the screen.

·     Supervising members of the team ensuring they are supported where required. As the most Senior member of the team the PD will also be responsible for adhering to the risk assessment and ensuring the safety of the team.

·     Flagging all compliance issues and should have a good understanding of BBC editorial policy.

·Ensuring that what is shot, and the care of contributors, complies with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code. PDs must therefore be familiar with the Code’s provisions and main laws affecting broadcasting. You must work in accordance not only with regulatory obligations but the highest standards of practice.



Experience required for the role

·     Minimum of 3 PD credits on broadcast productions.

·     Confident self shooter on FX9 (experience of using prime lenses essential).

·     Experience rigging and using Go Pros.

·     Experience of achieving a high end look (experience of using sliders or other methods to achieve this preferred).

·     Experience managing a team on location.

·     Experience managing on screen talent.

·     Drone licence would be beneficial but not essential.

·     Full driving licence is essential for this role.
