ROLE: EDIT PRODUCER

Contract: 10 weeks

Location: North West

Project: 3 x 45 minute documentary series for BBC 

We’re seeking a highly experienced Edit Producer to join a small, close-knit team on an exciting new BBC documentary series tackling a sensitive subject with real public impact.

Working closely with the Editor, Series Director, and Executive Producer, the successful candidate will shape an episode with clarity, care, and editorial rigour. This role calls for excellent storytelling instincts, strong editorial judgement, and a calm, considered approach to emotionally complex and sensitive material. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the editorial shaping, structure, and narrative of an episode
  2. Work confidently with rushes, master interviews, archive (including high volumes of UGC), and GFX to build a clear and compelling narrative
  3. Craft clear and coherent stories from complex and sensitive material
  4. Work closely with the Editor to guide structure, pace, tone, and storytelling
  5. Ensure accuracy, fairness, and duty of care throughout the edit process
  6. Work closely with the Executive Producer to ensure the episode meets all legal and compliance requirements  

Required Experience

  1. Based in Northwest
  2. Minimum 3 Edit Producer credits on factual documentaries (singles or series)
  3. Experience working on sensitive and/or blue-light subject matter
  4. Highly organised, detail-driven, and calm under pressure
  5. Comfortable working independently within a very small team 

Desired Experience

  1. Strong understanding of BBC compliance, legal, and editorial standards
