Countryfile, BBC One’s flagship factual series and one of the UK’s most-watched factual programmes, is looking for an experienced Development Assistant Producer to join the team.

Working to the show’s Senior Producers, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the content of Countryfile.

The right candidate will have strong core knowledge of at least one of the following topics: Nature / Farming / Rural History / Environment and will be excited to uncover rural stories on any topic from around the UK.

Over the decades Countryfile has covered an incredible number of stories. So, the right candidate will need to know the various methods needed to find new ones and have the right tricks up their sleeve to find a new angle on a familiar story.

We’re looking for individuals who have:

  1. Three years’ proven track record of working in factual TV/Radio.
  2. Experience of initiating and delivering creative, ambitious and original programme ideas and finding incredible stories.
  3. An interest in the UK countryside.
  4. Knowledge of the main organisations and key players who shape the UK’s rural agenda - and an ability to engage with them effectively on behalf of the BBC.
  5. The ability to create engaging pitch documents.
  6. The ability to deliver and maintain documents for tracking the editorial output of the show
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team. 
  8. Planning, organising and time-management skills.
  9. Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines and changing priorities.

Base: Bristol with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

Start Date: 20th of July for 3 months initially.

Closing Date: Wednesday 10th of June 2026.
